Umbro Liga de Quito Home 07/08

For the first time in the history of Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito, or more commonly known as Liga de Quito, the club has reached the final of the Copa Libertadores de America tournament. The South American version of the European Champions League holds our attention at the shop every year, as the excitement of the tournament is unmatched in our opinion, not even by it's multi-billion dollar European equivalent.

So a few weeks ago we were able to get our hands on some Liga de Quito shirts, just in time to see them achieve their greatet feat to date. They will be facing Fluminense, who is also making their first ever Copa Libertadores final, with the first leg in Ecuador on thursday night (6/25/08). Incidentally, that's one of the great things about the Copa Libertadores. The final is still a home and away series, which ensures two volatile evenings of South America's best football!

Now in stock at The Onion Bag, are the Home, Away and Third shirts for Liga de Quito, made by Umbro. The shirt has a cement company on the front, Holcim, Powerade sports drink across the top of the back, and Pilsener beer on both sleeves.

Above is a closeup of the beer sponsor on the sleeves. At The Onion Bag, we fully endorse football shirts that are embellished with alcoholic propaganda.

Above is a closeup of the fabric, which is light and soft, and well constructed. Sometimes shirts coming from South America leave a little to be desired in the finishing touches department, but we're happy to report this one doesn't. The embroidery used for the club badge and Umbro diamond logo on the chest are sharp and well crafted.

We also are offering official Umbro name and number as worn by Liga de Quito, on all three jerseys. In stock, and ready to ship! Click here to browse our Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito jerseys.

About This Blog

A running joke at the shop is that Santa Claus visits us every day, except he wears a brown uniform with the letters UPS embroidered on his cap. We constantly receive deliveries from our wide range of suppliers, and at least once a week something comes through the door that gets us as excited as an 8 year old kid on Dec. 25th. So we've set this space up as a way to share those unique items with you. They range from obscure club jerseys, to collectors items and memorabilia. There are all sorts of interesting things coming through the door at The OnionBag.
